A clearer look at
Noon’s image rules.
Some things belong to the file. Others depend on the actual product. Keeping them separate makes preparation easier.
Start with the file.
The general listing specification can be checked against the actual image bytes. Our local check reports what the browser can verify; the server checks the remaining metadata before export.
| File property | General requirement | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| Format | JPEG / JPG | PNG and WebP can be inputs; changing an extension is not conversion. |
| Width | At least 660 pixels | A bigger canvas does not restore missing detail. |
| Ratio | Width ÷ height ≥ 0.5 | Our 1200 × 1200 preset is a choice, not a mandatory square. |
| File size | At most 10 MB | We apply a conservative 10,000,000-byte export limit. |
| Metadata | ≥72 PPI; RGB/sRGB | PPI metadata is not sharpness. Browser rendering cannot verify every colour profile. |
Choose the image’s role.
A main image presents the complete product from a suitable front view. External packaging and hang tags do not belong in that primary image. Standard non-fashion main images use white backgrounds; fashion and some categories have specific exceptions.
The published framing guidance asks for 10% top and bottom margins for vertical shots, and 5% side margins for horizontal shots, with room on the other edges too. Framing estimates depend on segmentation, so check the visual result yourself.
Additional images may show details or real-life use. Some home-category guidance calls for a packaging image among the additional views. Do not apply the main-image packaging rule indiscriminately to every photo.
SkuFrame keeps additional-image backgrounds by default. Fashion, smartphones, complex bundles and A+ banners are outside the first background-preparation scope.
Home-category guidanceThe part only you can confirm.
- The photograph shows the real SKU and the correct sale contents.
- The front view and every important part are visible.
- Visible accessories belong in the sale.
- Product labels, colour, edges and small parts remain accurate after processing.
- You have permission to use and process the photograph.
Background and sharpness estimates are useful signals. They are not proof of product accuracy. A watermark detector also cannot decide whether text is part of a genuine product label.
Prepare the photo. Keep the expectations honest.
Noon decides whether to accept a listing. Passing our technical checks does not guarantee approval. The official wording leaves some details open to interpretation, including a single precise definition of product occupancy. We report framing rather than invent a guaranteed compliance percentage.
Glass, reflections, fine fibres and white-on-white products are difficult to separate from a background. Missing product parts and severe blur require a better original, not invented pixels.
Review every processed photo against your original before accepting and downloading it.
